Meet the Benthettes!
From middle schoolers to retirees, Benthettes come from all walks of life, but all share a curious mind, a warm heart, and a passion for inspiring others to appreciate and protect rivers.
Behind the name:
The name Benthettes comes from what we study: benthic stream macroinvertebrates (derived from the Greek term Benthos: watery bottom-dwellers). These small but mighty creatures live on the bottoms of substrates within streams and rivers and are essential to healthy aquatic ecosystems. They play key roles in the food web and serve as reliable indicators of water quality.
